Jewel defended Chapel Lawn's criticism of fans behaving “creepily” and revealed her own experience with “hundreds of stalkers”.
Jewel, 50, defended rising pop star Loann after she claimed she was being harassed and stalked by fans. Jewel explained that she was first stalked when she was 21, and that her hair turned grey overnight.
“I was really scared. They left Molotov cocktails outside my house. I received death threats saying they would shoot me off stage,” Jewel said in a TikTok video. “I've had hundreds of people stalked in my career and this is unacceptable. It made me step back from my career. I quit after 'Spirit' and 'Hands' because it was too much.”
Jewel's advice on getting through heartbreak or hardship: “It's what you do with the pieces that counts.”

Jewel explained that she was eventually able to draw a line between herself and her fans. The “You Were Meant For Me” singer recounted an encounter with a fan, who stood six feet away from Jewel and said, “I just want to let you know how much I love your music.”
“I want you to know that everyone deserves compassion, even if they're rich, even if they're famous. If these are our values, then to be compassionate and tolerant, we must be willing to understand the joys and struggles of other people's lives.”
“It was really nice. I felt very safe. I was able to take pictures safely,” she recalled. “But if you stopped even once you got mobbed, so I got chased through the airport a lot. I remember one guy calling me a 'bitch' in the airport and yelling, 'You f**king bitch, you think you're so important?' You shouldn't make people feel insecure.”

She said she “fully supports” Loan and is “proud of what you're doing.”
“I want people to know that everyone deserves compassion,” she continued, “no matter how rich they are, no matter how famous they are. If compassion and generosity are our values, then we must be willing to understand the joys and struggles of other people's lives.”

Loann currently has seven songs on the Billboard Hot 100. The singer's latest album, “The Rise and Fall of a Midwest Princess,” is currently at number four on the Billboard 200.
“I don't care that abuse, harassment and stalking is commonplace towards celebrities and people of some fame,” Loan said in a series of videos posted to TikTok.
“I don't care if it's normal,” she added. “I don't care that this crazy behavior comes with the job. [or] My chosen career field doesn't mean it's okay. It doesn't mean it's normal. It doesn't mean it's what I want. It doesn't mean I like it.”

Loan, who is currently on her Midwest Princess Tour, slammed fans who feel they have a “right” to take photos, hug and spend time with her.
“Every time you meet a celebrity, I don't want any of the things that you think you're entitled to,” she explained. “If they think it's selfish of me to turn down a photo, or your time, or a hug, I don't care.”
“That's not normal. It's weird,” she added. “It's weird that people think they know someone just because they've seen them online or listened to their work. It's really weird. You have the right to say no to creepy behavior.”
