Charges Against Jill Biden’s Ex-Husband
The former spouse of Jill Biden, who is facing murder charges related to his current wife’s death, once referred to her as “the greatest thing in my life.” This revelation comes from recent reports regarding William “Bill” Stephenson’s case.
The New Castle County Police Department revealed that 77-year-old Stephenson was arrested following a lengthy investigation into the death of his 64-year-old wife, Linda. This incident occurred after officers were called to their home in Delaware for a domestic dispute on December 28, 2025. Upon arrival, they found Linda unresponsive, and she was declared dead at the scene. The cause of her death remains undisclosed. Mr. Stevenson is currently being held with a bail set at $500,000.
The couple had shared nearly 40 years of marriage, according to the indictment. Interestingly, Jill Biden, now the First Lady, was previously married to Stevenson for five years before their divorce in 1975. They were both university students at the time; he was 18, and she was 23. Although Bill has made critical comments about Jill, he expressed he holds no bitterness about their past. In fact, he stated that if they hadn’t divorced, he wouldn’t have met Linda, whom he describes as a wonderful presence in his life.
Stephenson has claimed that Jill and former President Joe Biden were involved in an affair before his marriage to Jill ended. However, the Bidens have denied these allegations. Meanwhile, Linda’s daughter, Christine Vettori, shared her heartache over her mother’s death, calling her not just a parent but her best friend. They spoke almost daily and shared dinner every week, and Christine described the emotional void left by Linda’s absence.
She expressed profound grief, stating, “The pain of losing her is numbing and the emptiness in my heart is profound.” Christine also noted that her mother had given birth to her at a young age, highlighting their close bond. Together with others, she seeks justice for her mother’s murder, aiming to ensure Linda’s legacy is remembered rather than overshadowed by the circumstances of her death.
