Biden Undergoes Surgery for Skin Cancer
Reports indicate that former President Joe Biden recently had surgery to remove cancer cells from his forehead. His spokesperson confirmed that he underwent a procedure called MOHS surgery, designed to eliminate skin cancer by removing thin layers of skin until no traces of cancer remain.
The news, first reported by the Associated Press, included a quote from Biden’s spokesperson, Kelly Scully. A video surfaced showing the former president leaving a church in Delaware with a noticeable cut on his forehead.
Prior to his current situation, Biden had a non-melanoma skin cancer lesion removed from his chest during a physical examination in 2023. It’s not clear exactly when this latest surgery took place, but it follows Biden’s recent announcement regarding his battle with prostate cancer.
In May, Biden’s medical team revealed he had been diagnosed with a “more aggressive form” of prostate cancer that had already metastasized to his bones. The diagnosis came after he experienced an increase in urinary symptoms and was characterized by a Gleason score of 9, indicating a more severe stage of the disease. Despite the aggressive nature, doctors noted that the cancer seems to be hormone-sensitive, which may allow for effective management. The Biden family is currently discussing treatment options.
Throughout the years, the Biden family has faced significant health challenges, including the loss of his eldest son, Beau, who passed away from a brain tumor in 2015.
Concerns regarding Biden’s mental fitness arose even before he took office in January 2021. While some Democrats initially dismissed these worries, certain party members expressed discontent following a particularly tough debate with Donald Trump in June 2024.
Biden’s office has not yet responded to inquiries for further comment.
