President Joe Biden on Wednesday became the oldest sitting U.S. president in history.
Biden, who was born in 1942, celebrated his 82nd birthday on Wednesday, November 20th. He already holds the record for being the oldest sitting president, and this will break his record even further. former president ronald reagan left He retired at age 77, Dwight D. Eisenhower retired at age 70, and Andrew Jackson retired at age 69.
President-elect Donald Trump completed his first term at the age of 74, and will be 82 at the end of his second non-consecutive term after his historic come-from-behind victory.
Biden's age has been the subject of scrutiny throughout his term, largely due to concerns about both his physical and mental fitness. Democratic officials were so upset by Biden's debate performance against Trump that millions of people Bypassing the wishes of Democrats, he effectively expelled Biden as a candidate. I supported him in the primary.
Interestingly, during an interview with Fox News' Bret Baier, Harris declined to say whether she had concerns about Biden's physical fitness over the past nearly four years.
“You've told a lot of interviewers that Joe Biden is working on his game. [he] ran around [sic] It’s all about the staff,” Baier said in a pre-election interview. “When did you first notice that President Biden's mental capacity seemed to be declining?”
she refused To directly answer your question.
“Joe Biden, I've seen it from the Oval Office to the Situation Room,” Harris responded. “And he has the judgment and experience to do what he always has when it comes to making very important decisions on behalf of the American people.”
Baier asked Harris if he had any concerns. Again, Harris did not answer the question, instead pointing out that Biden was no longer on the ballot.
“Donald Trump is on the ballot,” Harris said.
“I understand,” Mr. Baier continued. “You saw him at least once a week for three and a half years. Did you have any concerns?”
Harris instead argued that “the American people are concerned about Donald Trump.” Of course, that doesn't seem to be as true as she expected. Trump received 312 electoral votes, won all seven battleground states, and won the national popular vote. The latter is usually the main topic of discussion on the left, where the latter has agitated. Electoral College victories for Republicans who failed to win the popular vote.
As for Biden, he slammed reporters who raised concerns about his mental health and age earlier this year.
“Mr. President, for months, when asked how old you were, you responded with the words 'look at me,'” a reporter told Biden in February.
“Many Americans are paying attention and expressing concern about your age,” she continued.
“That's your decision! That's your decision,” Biden responded. “That's not a news organization's decision.”
“They express concerns about your mental strength and say you're too old. Mr. President, in December you told me, 'There are so many other Democrats who can beat Donald Trump.' Why does it have to be you now?'' she continued, to which Biden responded angrily.
“Because I am the best person in this country to be president of the United States and to finish the job I started,” Biden responded.
