Joe Burrow’s Struggles Continue

Perhaps Joe Burrow should have taken a break for the rest of the season.

The Bengals’ quarterback, who has been sidelined for much of the year due to a toe injury, found himself starting again this week, but it didn’t change the outcome. The Ravens decisively shut out the Bengals, winning 24-0.

A misstep from Burrow last week against Buffalo seemed to set the tone for this game, and the Bengals struggled to gain any ground against Baltimore, facing a nearly impossible playoff situation.

It was Kyle Van Noy from the Ravens who capitalized on Burrow’s pressure-induced mistake by intercepting a pass. The linebacker, demonstrating quick thinking, handed the ball off to Arohi Gilman, who sprinted 95 yards for a touchdown.

Things were already looking bleak for the Bengals, as they trailed 17-0 before that crucial turnover. After the game, Burrow faced his performance with some harsh self-assessment. He completed 25 of 39 passes for 225 yards but expressed doubt over his overall effectiveness.

“No team in the NFL would have won today with me as their quarterback,” he stated after the game, clearly frustrated. The Bengals now sit at a disappointing 4-10 for the season.

Interestingly, just days prior, Burrow shared some reflective thoughts regarding the team’s struggles. “If we’re going to keep doing this, we need to enjoy it,” he mentioned last week. “I’ve been through a lot, but if it’s not fun, then what’s the point?” His words seem to echo a deeper sentiment that many fans might relate to—football, after all, should be enjoyable.

Next week, the Bengals will take on the Dolphins, and it’ll be interesting to see how they respond.
