Joe Burrow Updates on His Injury Situation
Joe Burrow has recently addressed the media for the first time since undergoing a potential surgery on his toes, which could be season-ending.
On Friday, Burrow shared a few photos on Instagram, expressing a poignant sentiment: “This game will break your heart. See you later.”
The Cincinnati Bengals quarterback faced earlier predictions of a three-month recovery period following surgery to fix an injury initially described as a grass toe. However, last week, Jay Glazer from Fox Sports revealed that Burrow actually suffered a fully torn tendon, ligament, and capsule.
Glazer mentioned, “They say three months, but I don’t think that’s a realistic timeline. I believe Burrow has a better chance of returning because, if the team aims for the playoffs, he’s crucial. For anyone else, I might doubt it. But Burrow seems to have that relentless mindset. Still, a return from such a tough injury is incredibly challenging.”
This brings up concerns about the team’s playoff aspirations, especially considering Jake Browning’s performance last week, which could signal difficulties if Burrow remains sidelined.
Browning stepped in during his debut against the Jaguars but struggled significantly, throwing an interception in a 48-10 defeat against the Vikings.
Reflecting on his experience, Browning stated, “We worked hard today, but it’s tough to just sit with that feeling of misery after a game like this.” He ended the match completing 27 passes out of 27 attempts for 140 yards and one touchdown.
As it stands, Cincinnati holds a 2-1 record ahead of their upcoming match against the Broncos on Monday night.
