Feud Among Kennedys Escalates Over HHS Appointment
On Friday, Joe Kennedy III publicly criticized his cousin, who serves as the Secretary of Health and Human Services under Robert F. Kennedy Jr.
This latest development in the ongoing family feud comes a day after RFK Jr.’s contentious Senate hearing, further deepening the rift within a family that has been central to American politics for generations.
Kennedy’s remarks, which garnered over 1.2 million views, shed light on the deep-seated divisions within the iconic political family.
Kennedy, who was once a symbol of Democratic unity, has supported the appointment of President Donald Trump’s HHS secretary as part of the “American Health” initiative.
The resignation of his cousin marks a significant escalation in their dispute.
In a joint statement from 2024, five of RFK Jr.’s brothers referred to Trump’s endorsement as a “betrayal of the values our father and his family hold dear.”
Caroline Kennedy later urged the senator to reject his cousin’s cabinet appointment, labeling him “unqualified” and referring to him as a “predator” leading the HHS.
On September 4th, RFK Jr. testified before the Senate Finance Committee. During the hearing, Senator Ron Wyden accused him of dismissing CDC experts and replacing them with “cranks” and “conspiracy theorists,” putting families at risk.
As Joe Kennedy stated, “None of us can escape the pain he is inflicting… those values don’t exist in the secretary’s office. He must resign.”
Jack Schlossberg, RFK Jr.’s cousin and grandson of President John F. Kennedy, found amusement in RFK Jr.’s testimony, saying, “The RFK losers are suffocating very badly.”
The internal conflict within the Kennedy dynasty is now surfacing publicly, with sharp exchanges becoming increasingly evident.
The Department of Health and Human Services did not immediately respond to requests for comment.
