Joe Mitchell, Republican Candidate in Iowa, Promises to Look into Anthony Fauci in Congress

Joe Mitchell Promises Investigation into Fauci if Elected

Clive, Iowa — Joe Mitchell, a Republican running for Congress in Iowa, has pledged to investigate Dr. Anthony Fauci, the former director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, if he secures a congressional seat. This commitment was articulated during a rally on Wednesday where Mitchell shared a personal story about his grandmother’s death after receiving a COVID-19 vaccination.

The “Get Out the Vote Rally,” organized by MAHA PAC, was held on October 28 in Clive, a suburb of Des Moines, just before the midterm elections on November 3. Among the speakers were Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr., Republican gubernatorial candidate Zach Lahn, and various other Republican officials and advocates.

Mitchell recounted how, in 2022, his healthy 93-year-old grandmother was vaccinated in a nursing home, where he claims consent was not obtained. “They said there was a mandate,” he stated, highlighting that she went from being seemingly healthy to passing away within two weeks of the vaccine.

“This experience is personal for me,” he remarked, expressing his disdain for Fauci and encouraging the crowd to share his sentiments, which they did by responding negatively. Mitchell recalled a conversation with a congressional member who asked him about committee preferences upon election. He stated that he wants to join oversight to investigate Fauci for his actions during the pandemic, inciting enthusiastic applause and cheers from the audience.

Mitchell mentioned that only 13 candidates nationwide have received endorsements from MAHA Action, including himself and Lahn. He emphasized that he is the sole Republican congressional candidate in the country who plans not to accept corporate PAC money while in Washington, claiming his campaign stands against the influence of large corporations in politics.

His remarks resonate with ongoing calls among Republican politicians for accountability regarding Fauci’s management of the pandemic. Several GOP figures, like Sen. Ron Johnson and Rep. Brandon Gill, have come forward demanding investigations into Fauci’s actions, with Johnson suggesting that Fauci’s reputation should be severely damaged.

Mitchell, who has been endorsed by former President Donald Trump, is competing against Democratic State Rep. Lindsay James in the upcoming elections for Iowa’s 2nd Congressional District. The seat is currently occupied by Rep. Ashley Hinson, who is vying for a Senate position. Trump has praised Mitchell for his previous role at the Department of Housing and Urban Development and noted his record as Iowa’s youngest state legislator.

In contrast, Mitchell has characterized James as very liberal, especially criticizing her stance on using taxpayer funds for certain healthcare policies. He expressed that if someone believes in funding sex change operations for prisoners, they shouldn’t be involved in healthcare or education decisions.

James had previously faced backlash for remarks on her campaign site regarding her background and privilege, and during a debate, she was pressed about her missed votes in the Iowa House as she campaigned. She did not sufficiently address concerns about her voting record, particularly on various bills concerning tax reform and education.

As the election approaches, contrasting viewpoints between Mitchell and James have emerged, highlighting their differing stances on healthcare, education, and taxpayer money. Mitchell is asserting a strong anti-establishment message while promoting his vision for Congress.
