Joe Rogan’s Church Attendance Sparks Discussion
There’s been a lot of chatter lately about comedian and podcast host Joe Rogan regularly attending church, signaling what some see as a potential shift toward Christianity.
The conversation picked up after theologian Wesley Huff appeared on Rogan’s podcast back in January. In May, it became public that Rogan was reportedly in touch with Huff about his faith, and even described his church attendance as “consistent.”
Huff, who noted Rogan’s curiosity, mentioned they discussed biblical topics. Interestingly, Rogan hadn’t really talked about it publicly until now.
In a recent episode of “The Joe Rogan Experience,” he addressed the rumors head-on. Joining him were fellow comedians Shane Gillis, Mark Normand, and Ali Shafir, and they dove into the topic with some humor.
Normand kicked things off by jokingly asking if Rogan had been practicing drinking. Given that they usually indulge during their long podcast sessions, this was quite the question.
Rogan then shared he had been sober for three months. The group had a lighthearted discussion about the potential for gout, and Normand probed Rogan about his churchgoing habits. “Wait, are you going to church too, or are you joking?” he said.
Rogan responded, “I’ve been to church.” Then, curious himself, he asked, “Have you been to church before?” Normand admitted he had.
Despite the playful banter, Rogan took a moment to emphasize the positive atmosphere he experienced during his visits. “They’re all just trying to be better people,” he noted, which he seemed to appreciate.
Gillis chimed in, asking Rogan if his church attendance included a Catholic service. He talked about visiting St. Patrick’s Cathedral in Manhattan and found it to be a good experience.
“I tried it. I did it,” Rogan said, although it was a bit unclear how often he had attended a Catholic Mass.
Normand, still inquisitive, asked, “If you’re not Catholic, which one is it?”
“It’s just a Christian church,” Rogan replied.
Shafir, another comedian in the mix, hinted that Rogan might actually be going to a non-denominational Christian church.
The group then joked that Rogan was secretly attending televangelist Joel Osteen’s church and was contributing financially. “Yeah, I’m just giving all the money to Osteen,” Rogan joked, before transitioning the conversation to the topic of gout.
Chris Enrow from Blaze News commented on Rogan’s openness, stating that his acknowledgment of church reflects a reputed Christian witness featured in previous episodes of his podcast. Enrow expressed hope that the comedian would continue sharing his spiritual journey with his audience.
