Joe Scarborough: Media is too concerned about ‘being objective’ toward Trump

MSNBC host Joe Scarborough vented his frustrations Wednesday at other major media outlets because he believes they're too concerned about being “objective” with former President Donald Trump and failing to convey that he's a real threat to the United States.

Scarborough joined a chorus of Democrats seeking to scandalize President Trump for visiting Arlington National Cemetery last week at the request of Gold Star families who lost loved ones in the Abbey Gate bombing during the disastrous withdrawal from Afghanistan.

Scarborough's claims run counter to actual data that proves the opposite is true.

“I mean, shocking statements come out every day, and they're not surprising, but what he said is shocking nonetheless. And you've seen major newspapers, even in Arlington, discussing how this impacts Kamala Harris and Afghanistan. [Trump] “It's just a barbaric act and a desecration of Arlington,” Scarborough said.

Scarborough lamented that despite Trump being involved in the presidential election for more than nine years, the media still doesn't know how to cover him properly.

“They're still slipping into moral relativism at this late hour, saying, 'Yes, but, yes, but,' and again, they just don't know the right perspective. As I said yesterday, they're so hung up on objectivity that they're treating this race like Clinton vs. Dole in 1996, or Bush vs. Kerry in 2004,” he continued. “They're objective, but I put that word in quotes because their objectivity isn't actually objective at all. They're so numb to the hatred, the hate speech that's been spewing out of Donald Trump's mouth for the last nine years that it ends up working in his favor every day.”

Scarborough's claims run counter to actual data that proves the opposite. This year alone: Media Research Center The study found that nearly 90% of coverage of Trump was negative: “In just four weeks, these news programs aired 158 negative statements about the former president (excluding partisan comments) compared with only 19 positive comments, for a good/bad coverage score of 89% negative.”

In contrast, M.R.C. Network coverage found Since being selected to succeed President Joe Biden in the presidential election, public opinion of Vice President Kamala Harris has been overwhelmingly favorable. Not only has Harris received 66% more airtime than former President Donald Trump, but the bias of her reporting has also been viewed more favorably (84%). Any Despite the almost universally hostile coverage of Trump, there has been growing criticism of other major party candidates.”
