Actor John Cusack recently shared his belief that Iran should develop nuclear weapons to defend itself against the US and Israel. In a post on X, Cusack stated, “Iran will surely hurry to get nuclear weapons. They should get it. It is the only way to stop us and Israel from bombing all the countries in the Middle East.”
This comment came on the heels of President Donald Trump’s military strike on multiple Iranian sites thought to be linked to nuclear development. Cusack’s criticism of Israel’s military approach in Gaza and toward Iran has been evident in his social media posts. He previously suggested that the US’s backing of Israel aligns it with a regime he views as committing genocide.
His remarks reflect a broader trend among some on the far left, who have condemned Trump’s actions regarding Iran. Following the strike, which Trump labeled as a significant military achievement, Cusack pointed out what he sees as the consequences of US foreign policy.
Cusack has also expressed strong feelings about the impact of these conflicts, recently commenting on the situation in Lebanon, describing the ongoing bombings and calling attention to the suffering of those affected. In a separate post, he highlighted the need for more Democratic leaders to speak out against these issues, stating, “The fact that many people in the DEM Party will speak out and not work every day to stop this genocide – they should be bothered by the rest of their lives and end their political careers.”
