John Daly underwent emergency hand surgery this week.
The legendary golfer shared the horrifying news on Instagram with a photo from a Florida hospital.
“Emergency hand surgery…thank you” [it] It went very well and Dr. McClimans took good care of me. Please come visit us again soon! ” Daley wrote on the platform.
In another post tagged in Tampa, Florida, Daly once again thanked those involved in the surgery and vowed to be back on the golf course “soon.”
“Thank you Doc McClimans for getting me back on my feet!” he wrote. “I'm sure we'll attack again soon! Thank you for all your messages.”
The PGA Tour Champion did his best. To Mr. Daley.
“We wish John Daly a speedy recovery!” the tour for golfers over 50 wrote in a post by X.
The past few months have been tough for Daley, 58, whose $1.4 million Clearwater, Fla., home was destroyed by Hurricane Helen in October.
Approximately six of his friends and family members also had property destroyed by the storm.
“I'm really happy that everyone is healthy. That's the most important thing,” he told the PGA Tour's website at the time. “You live in Florida and you have to understand that things like this happen, but not like this. I never thought it would be this bad.”
Daley, known for drinking and smoking on the golf course, was diagnosed with bladder cancer in 2020.
He underwent surgery to remove the cancer, but said the disease was likely to return.
“Luckily they caught it early, but I don't even know all the details about bladder cancer,” he said. “But it doesn't seem like it's going to go away. Let's see what happens. Maybe a miracle will happen.”
Daly joined the PGA Tour in 1991 and won five tournaments throughout his career, including two major championships: the 1991 PGA Championship and the 1995 Open Championship.
