John Daley appears to be recovering after “emergency” surgery and has a message for President-elect Donald Trump ahead of Monday's inauguration ceremony.
The two-time major golf champion announced on Instagram last week that he would need hand surgery, including a photo of himself in a hospital bed.
Days later, Daley, 58, posted a message of support for Trump on the eve of Trump's second inauguration.
“'LFGGGG, it's time! @RealDonaldTrump God bless America!'” Daley wrote on the cover of Time magazine, which showed President Trump clearing out his desk in the Oval Office: “He's back.” I wrote the caption.
Daley, who has been a vocal supporter of Trump and often refers to him as “Papa Trump,” most recently competed against his son John Daley II at the PNC Championship in late December.
They finished eighth at 20 under, behind winner Bernhard Langer and his son Jason, who defeated Tiger and Charlie Woods in a playoff.
The senior Daly hopes to get back on the track as soon as possible after surgery and praised his medical team last week.
“Thank you Doc (Frederick) McClimans for making me recover!” he wrote. “I'm sure we'll attack again soon! Thank you for all your messages.”
The surgery was Daly's latest rough work in 2024.
He lost his $1.4 million Clearwater, Fla., home in October's Hurricane Helen.
“I'm really happy that everyone is staying healthy. That's the most important thing,” he said. PGA Tour Website. “You live in Florida and you have to understand that things like this happen, but not something like this. I never thought it would be this bad. …” When you lose something, you miss the memories.”
Daly has five career wins on the PGA Tour, including wins in the 1991 PGA Championship and 1995 Open Championship.
