John Kennedy Claims Those Who Target ICE Agents Should 'Have Some Time With Bubba'

Senator Proposes Tough Measures for Attacks on ICE Agents

On Wednesday, Louisiana Senator John Kennedy expressed his view that individuals convicted of attacking U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents should face imprisonment. He believes these offenders need to experience the consequences of their actions firsthand.

In Texas, there have been two significant incidents involving ICE operations. A facility has been on high alert since July 4th, with ten people charged with attempted murder related to events surrounding these actions. During a discussion on “American Newsroom,” host Bill Hemmer pressed Kennedy on how to handle the growing violence against ICE agents. Kennedy responded, mentioning that the law should be strongly enforced against those who confront ICE officers. “If you physically assault an ICE officer, you need to be prosecuted. You should serve time and perhaps reflect on your actions,” he said. He also mentioned that those advocating for open borders may soon realize the ramifications of such policies if serious actions aren’t taken against violators.

Following an aggressive ICE enforcement initiative in June, protests erupted in Los Angeles, prompting some Democratic leaders to call for a pause on operations to maintain order. Mayor Karen Bass of Los Angeles even sought to strengthen the city’s sanctuary policies shortly after filing a lawsuit against aggressive ICE actions.

Hemmer continued the conversation, referencing a Democratic complaint regarding an incident in which ICE agents reportedly engaged with suspects armed with firearms while investigating marijuana farms in California. Kennedy expressed his confusion about why his Democratic colleagues seem to favor open border policies. “This approach leads to chaos, and the American public doesn’t support it,” he stated. He went on to question whether there is an ulterior motive behind these views, mentioning a disconnect between those in power and the preferences of their constituents.

Resistance to ICE operations is evident in various locations. For instance, a Milwaukee judge allegedly circumvented ICE agents trying to make arrests, and Nashville Mayor Freddie O’Connell has publicly criticized ICE’s role in enforcing immigration laws.

In New York City, an incident involving Democratic mayoral candidate Brad Lander occurred when he was allegedly arrested for interfering with an ICE operation at a courthouse. Additionally, a New Jersey Democrat, Ramonica McQuiver, faces accusations of assaulting an ICE agent during a situation in Newark.
