John Legend Supports Democrats in Ohio Midterms
During a campaign rally in Dayton, Ohio, well-known artist John Legend encouraged voters to support Democrat Amy Acton for governor and Sherrod Brown for Senator in the upcoming midterm elections.
“It feels good to be home. I was born and raised just 25 minutes from here,” the singer of “All of Me,” who hails from Springfield, Ohio, shared with the crowd.
In his speech, Legend took aim at Republican Senator Jon Husted, who is contesting against former Ohio Democrat Senator Sherrod Brown. He described Husted as “a great customer service representative,” alleging that he caters to the needs of billionaires and large corporations.
“He heads to Washington and does whatever they ask of him. Whatever they need, he’ll make it happen,” Legend remarked, while displaying an unusual dance at the podium.
He further criticized Husted for increasing healthcare costs and advocating for significant data centers in Ohio.
The “Love Me Now” performer also directed his criticisms towards Vivek Ramaswamy, suggesting that the gubernatorial candidate believes he can simply purchase a seat in office.
“He will go to great lengths to win power, perhaps even lower than you might expect,” Legend claimed, describing Ramaswamy’s campaign as “desperate” and “despicable,” particularly for its attacks on Acton.
This might have been in reference to a recent ad by Ramaswamy that included his opponent’s estranged mother, which President Trump defended by saying the ad was effective.
“Do we really want someone with such a questionable moral compass leading our state?” Legend questioned, urging the audience in Dayton to cast their votes for Acton, whom he praised as “a great public servant.”
“And we need to send Sherrod Brown back to the U.S. Senate,” he emphasized.
In a past statement, Legend expressed his belief that Trump has created “one of the dark times in American history,” linked to the president’s crackdown on crime in Washington D.C.
