Actor John Leguizamo The New York Times He urges industry professionals voting for Emmy nominees to vote for “non-white artists” because there isn’t enough “inclusion” in the entertainment industry.

“May this be the year we finally embrace change,” Leguizamo’s ad begins, “May this be the year we find true equality and see artists of color represented in all fields, not just one.”
“You’re probably tired of hearing words like ‘inclusion’ and ‘diversity’ and you’re just stumbling along trying to understand how to turn these sentiments into action. Look no further, it’s easy!” his ad continued.
“There are hundreds of prolific non-white artists who are worthy contenders for this year’s awards, not just because they are Black, Brown, Indigenous or Asian, but because they are truly great,” he wrote. “These are extraordinary artists who have achieved greatness with their feet on their necks for far too long.”
“Let this be the start of a new era,” he concluded. “Let’s stop making awards shows white-dominated. Instead, let’s use this year to inspire the next generation of underrepresented and underrepresented artists who might finally see themselves onstage and think, ‘If they can do it, maybe I can do it.'”

Leguizamo has frequently criticized the entertainment industry for not hiring enough Hispanic talent, and last year he slammed the producers of a recent film. Super mario bros Project to not hire Hispanics for Italian positions.
In his X post, the actor acknowledged that “everyone is exhausted by inclusion,” but maintained that “but not us who are not included,” and that we have not achieved inclusion yet, which is why he feels the need to continue adding fuel to the fire of this issue.
“That’s why I took out this ad in the New York Times: White people are only 58.9% of the population but are overrepresented in top positions in every field. They are the decision makers in tech, banking, corporations, healthcare, streamers, Hollywood,” Leguizamo exclaimed.
Leguizamo cited a list of Hollywood actors and celebrities who will have the right to vote in the upcoming awards season, including Whoopi Goldberg, Naomi Watts, Shaquille O’Neal and Missy Elliott.
He also posted a follow-up post, tagging politicians including Sen. Cory Booker, Rep. Rashida Jones and other Democrats, saying, “I had to speak up! And I will continue to speak up until there is equality!”

Leguizamo has long used his celebrity to promote far-left Democratic policies, and in May he blamed Joe Biden for the economic downturn caused by economically disadvantaged Hispanics.
