John Piper Speaks about Satan’s Power: Why Is He Allowed to Blind People to the Gospel?

In his recent episode, “Ask Pastor John” Podcast, pastor and best-selling author John Piper spoke about the power that Satan has in the spirit world, including blinding people to the gospel.According to reports christian postPiper revealed on her podcast that she’s been asked more about Satan than any other Bible topic.

“There are hints that he is a fallen angel and that there was a rebellion in heaven,” he said. “But it’s not a complete explanation of where he came from. It explains why a perfectly created individual, rational being, an angel, would find a motive for rebellion in a perfect universe.” Because it’s very difficult to do.”

“It’s not easy to explain. I don’t think we have a good enough explanation for it. It’s one of those things that remains a mystery right now.”

Piper noted that Satan’s influence is evident from Genesis to Revelation, adding that the Bible is clear about the nature of the devil and how he hinders humanity’s spiritual journey. .

“Why would God allow such blinding, word-stealing power?” Piper said. “I think the key lies in the fact that if God had gotten rid of Satan and the only enemy to be defeated was our human depravity, some of the glory of the victory of salvation would have been lost. .”

Piper pointed out that God is ultimately glorified by defeating the enemy’s lies and overcoming the blindness of human depravity.

“God is showing us the double prison we are in,” Piper said. “We are doubly dark: the darkness of our own shackles around our wrists and ankles, and the darkness of Satan’s locked doors. Like Peter in prison, we must free our hands. Then we had to release the gate and release the door.” ”

“There were layers of bondage. The darkness of our own delusions about God, which is one level of bondage and blindness. And then there was the further darkness of Satan’s lies and deceptions all around us.”

Piper argued that defeating Satan quickly brings glory to God, but does not glorify God’s superior beauty.

“If he had destroyed Satan sooner, his power would be praised. But if Satan remained and we could overcome his deception by seeing the superior beauty of Christ. “If we can do that, then not only the great power of Christ is celebrated, but also the great beauty of Christ,” Piper said.

“We are so depraved that we cannot see that Christ is of greater beauty, greater worth, greater greatness, and therefore greater satisfaction than all other things. We are blind to it all because we are corrupt.”

Piper concluded the episode by exhorting listeners to “take up arms and rejoice in the Son of God” who will overcome all darkness and dispel the lies of the devil.
