Suspected Pro-Hamas Attacker Arrested in Louisiana

A terrorist suspect, linked to the Hamas attack on Israel on October 7, 2023, has been detained in Louisiana. House Speaker Mike Johnson expressed his concerns, labeling the situation as “alarming,” while also criticizing the Biden administration’s border policies that he believes contributed to the suspect’s entry into the U.S.

“I was completely unaware. This is troubling for everyone, but I’m really relieved to see that our government is focused on apprehending these dangerous individuals. It’s definitely a relief for many on the ground,” Johnson remarked during a Sunday Briefing.

Mahmoud Amin Yaqub al-Muftadi, the suspect in question and a Louisiana resident originally from Gaza, was taken into custody by the FBI. The Justice Department has indicated that al-Muftadi was part of a paramilitary group involved in the Hamas attack.

The attack on October 7, 2023, resulted in approximately 1,200 deaths, escalating an ongoing conflict that has claimed tens of thousands of lives in Gaza, according to Israeli officials.

Interestingly, U.S. Customs and Border Protection records indicate that al-Muftadi entered the country using a fraudulently obtained visa in September 2024, nearly a year after the attack.

“After hiding out in the U.S., this individual was found and charged with being involved in the horrific events of October 7, the most deadly day for Jews since the Holocaust,” Attorney General Pamela Bondi stated in a press release.

Johnson and fellow Republicans have been vocal in their criticism of the Biden administration’s immigration and border control policies. A recent Pew Research Center study forecasts that the illegal immigrant population could hit a record high of 14 million in 2023.

“They had open borders,” Johnson added, cautioning that the repercussions of this situation might be felt for years to come. “We are aware that terrorists have crossed our borders, but who really knows how many? It seems like we’ll be facing the consequences of these open borders for a long time,” he concluded.
