A repeat offender from Tennessee is once again in custody, facing several new charges linked to an alleged domestic violence incident. On Wednesday, records from the Davidson County Sheriff’s Office showed that 34-year-old Johnthony Walker is back in a Nashville jail with seven fresh charges against him. This marks another chapter in Walker’s troubled history with the law.
Walker is perhaps best known for a horrifying school bus crash ten years ago, which resulted in the tragic deaths of six children and injuries to others. He was convicted of manslaughter in that case.
According to court documents, Walker was driving a school bus for the Chattanooga School District in 2016 when he was speeding and took an unauthorized route. He lost control of the bus, crashing into a mailbox, a utility pole, and eventually overturning against a tree.
After a two-year legal process, he was convicted in 2018 and sentenced to four years in prison for that incident.
In 2020, just two years post-conviction, Walker also pleaded guilty to charges of rape. Following that sentencing, he received a longer prison term that included a six-year sentence plus an additional month. He was required to register as a sex offender after serving his time.
Currently, unrelated to his previous crimes, Walker is now facing charges including aggravated assault by strangulation, aggravated robbery, child abuse, and other offenses, highlighting a troubling trend in his life. It’s concerning to think about how someone could find themselves in such a cycle.
