Josh Hawley Discusses the Key Message NATO Should Learn from Trump’s Success

Hawley Discusses NATO Response to Trump’s Middle East Strategy

On Tuesday, Republican Senator Josh Hawley of Missouri shared insights on Fox News regarding the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) and President Donald Trump’s achievements in the Middle East.

Trump recently declared a ceasefire, just two days after attacks on Iran’s nuclear facilities by Israel and Iran. During his appearance on “Jesse Watters Primetime,” Hawley emphasized what he views as the wider implications of Trump’s approach.

“Europeans really need to pay attention when he says it’s time to step up their defense efforts,” Hawley remarked. “This is a significant message to NATO. They have to take charge. It’s essential for them to boost their defense spending and take these matters seriously.”

According to Hawley, Trump understands how to showcase his dedication to national security, negotiate agreements, and foster peace.

“The US has shown under Trump that we’re serious about national security. We know how to take it seriously. Trump knows how to broker a deal. He has a knack for crafting peace deals. Europeans ought to be more mindful,” he added.

Hawley further asserted that U.S. interests are now better safeguarded following Trump’s successes. “He is indeed protecting U.S. interests, doing exactly what he set out to do. So, how can one contest the fact that this man has brought peace to a much-needed area?”

As of Tuesday, a ceasefire was established. Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Aragci indicated that Iran had not consented to a formal ceasefire as they demanded Israel to stop military actions by 4 am.

Right before this deadline, Iran launched missiles at Be’er Sheva, resulting in at least four civilian casualties, as reported. In response, Israel conducted limited strikes on Iranian targets, but Trump urged restraint and cautioned Israel against escalation. His involvement was seen as pivotal in urging both sides to agree on a fragile ceasefire.

On Tuesday, Trump also shared a message from NATO Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg, who praised member states for committing to increased defense spending. This message came just before Trump headed to the NATO summit in the Netherlands, following the recently established ceasefire between Israel and Iran, which appeared to hold despite the earlier missile exchanges.
