Joy Behar Criticizes Sen. Fetterman for Supporting Mullin
During a recent episode of “The View,” co-host Joy Behar confronted Senator John Fetterman (D-Pennsylvania) for backing Senator Markwayne Mullin (R-Okla.) as the nominee for secretary of Homeland Security.
“I think he’s a terrible person,” Behar remarked about Mullin. “As I mentioned before, Fetterman was the pivotal vote that supported this guy. Honestly, who needs Republicans when Democrats behave like this?”
On Wednesday, Fetterman voted to move Mullin’s confirmation forward after Senator Rand Paul (R-Ky.) opposed the Republican nominee for the Department of Homeland Security.
Co-host Sunny Hostin also weighed in with her criticism, suggesting Republicans could have chosen a better candidate. She referred to Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) as “masked bandits.”
“He was a professional mixed martial artist,” Hostin stated. “From my viewpoint in the government, I just don’t think someone with that kind of aggressive mentality should be leading a group known for lawlessness. It’s puzzling.”
Mullin’s background includes working as a plumber and competing as an MMA fighter before his congressional election.
Behar further questioned the situation, asking, “With all this going on, are they really suggesting a plumber and a talk show host are the solution? That’s what I want to know.”
Mullin’s confirmation hearing also featured heated exchanges. He claimed that Senator Paul’s 2017 assault, which resulted in serious injuries, was “justified.” Paul then challenged Mullin, saying he lacked the courage to confront him directly about it.
Paul expressed doubts about whether someone who endorses violence against political rivals is fit to lead an important agency, adding, “I struggle with the limits of appropriate force.”
Before his comments, Mullin accused Paul of calling him a “liar,” asserting that everyone present knew he was straightforward and candid.
Neither Fetterman nor Mullin’s offices offered immediate responses to inquiries.
