Behar Agrees with Trump on Comey Critique

Joy Behar, a co-host on “The View,” expressed agreement with former President Donald Trump regarding the criticism directed at FBI Director James Comey, particularly in relation to Comey’s firing.

Comey may potentially face criminal charges for allegedly misleading Congress during his testimony in September 2020. This scrutiny follows an investigation led by Trump’s former personal attorney, Lindsay Harrigan. Behar mentioned her dislike for Comey, primarily stemming from his decision to initiate an inquiry into Hillary Clinton just 11 days prior to the 2016 election.

“Honestly, I’m not a fan of Comey. I find myself agreeing with Trump on this matter. I didn’t appreciate what he did to Hillary,” Behar stated, adding, “That’s saying something since I usually don’t align with Trump.”

In October 2016, Comey informed Congress that his agency had uncovered a new email related to the investigation into Clinton’s private server. This move reportedly contravened Justice Department policies concerning actions that could influence elections close to the voting date.

The allegations against Comey involve his denial to Texas Senator Ted Cruz regarding any approval of leaks pertaining to the Trump or Clinton campaigns. Cruz later claimed that Andrew McCabe, the former FBI deputy director, was authorized by Comey to share information with the Wall Street Journal about the ongoing investigations linked to claims of Russian interference in the 2016 campaign.

Prosecutors are nearing a decision regarding possible charges against Comey, with Harrigan planning to request an indictment from the presiding judge shortly.

Furthermore, National Intelligence Director Tarsi Gabbard introduced allegations against Comey to the Department of Justice in July, pointing to possible criminal actions associated with claims that Trump’s 2016 campaign colluded with Russia under former President Barack Obama’s administration.
