Trump’s Performance at the Kennedy Center Draws Mixed Reactions
President Trump certainly created some buzz during his recent outing to see Les Misérables at the Kennedy Center. He’s mentioned that classical musicals are among his favorites, yet the hosts of The View seemed a bit skeptical.
Alyssa Farah Griffin, who previously served as the White House communications director, jokingly referred to Trump’s affection for the musical genre, potentially recalling it as his “all-time favorite.”
Sarah Haynes chimed in with a quip that got the audience laughing, “It’s a track.”
However, Joy Behar elicited gasps from the crowd when she remarked, “He likes to grab them by the pussy.” This comment harks back to the infamous 2016 tape where Trump was heard saying to Billy Bush, “When they let you do it, you can do anything… you can grab them by the pussy.”
In the moment, Sunny Hostin appeared to stifle her laughter as the discussion continued.
Hostin raised an interesting point about Trump’s “odd obsession with the arts,” which Behar seemed to empathize with. “It’s as if he craves approval from this celebrity circle,” she said, referencing his fascination with pop culture. She quipped, “He dreamed of Lindsay Lohan and ended up with Lindsey Graham.”
Behar wasn’t convinced that she fit in with the A-listers Trump is said to have conflicts with. When Whoopi Goldberg suggested he desires their affection, Behar replied, “I can’t speak for myself, but maybe you!”
Hostin further noted that this obsession seems to align with tactics seen in authoritarian regimes. “When I read about dictatorships and authoritarianism, there’s a pattern—they try to control culture because creativity poses a threat to their power,” she elaborated. “That’s likely why he wants control over the Kennedy Center.”
You can catch The View weekdays on ABC starting November 10th.
