WASHINGTON – A federal judge on Thursday blocked President Donald Trump's plans by providing financial incentives to federal employees.
The ruling came just hours before the midnight deadline for workers to apply for a postponed resignation program.
Boston US District Judge George O'Toole Jr. had no opinion on the legality of the program. He had scheduled a hearing Monday at 2pm.
He also directed the administrative authorities to extend the deadline for applying to the program until after the hearing.
Several unions have sued Trump's plans coordinated by top adviser Elon Musk. Republican presidents are trying to reduce and rebuild federal workers.
