Julian Lewis, Deuce Knight highlight top high school football QB performances of the week

Another week of high school football came to a close last Friday night, with a number of notable quarterbacks back in action to start their senior seasons strong.

We've already noted how the top duo in the country, five-star quarterback Kieron Russell and five-star wide receiver DaCorine Moore of Duncanville, shone in a big win over a powerhouse Texas team.

But there were several other notable quarterback performances this week that deserve recognition.

Carrollton QB Julian Lewis

Julian Lewis, ranked No. 2 in the Class of 2025 by ESPN, played for Carrollton High School and had his second consecutive strong performance in a dominant 63-0 win over Lithia Springs.

Lewis completed 12 of 14 passes for 282 yards and six touchdowns, averaging an astounding 23.5 yards per pass in the victory.

The five-star player tried to distribute the ball to his teammates, but no Carrollton receiver caught more than three passes and 10 different pass-catching players had passes received during the game.

It was a dominant performance for Carrollton, who led 56-0 by halftime and effectively ended Lewis' night with a highly efficient performance from their star quarterback.

The week before, Lewis had a highlight performance against Rome, completing 25 of 30 passes for 352 yards and five touchdowns in a 44-22 win.

Lewis started the season very well, despite being limited in performance in Carrollton's season opener against Woodward Academy due to poor weather.

In four games, he completed 78.9 percent of his passes for 1,034 yards, 18 touchdowns and one interception.

Lipscomb Academy QB Deuce Knight

Five-star Notre Dame commit Deuce Knight had a strong performance this past weekend, passing for 317 yards and five touchdowns in Lipscomb Academy's 51-36 win over Greene County.

Knight was efficient in the win and had an explosive performance, completing 12 of 18 passes and rushing six times for 51 yards.

Knight completed passes to just three receivers on the night, but wide receiver Bren Moody led the team with five catches for 167 yards and two touchdowns, while Montrell Dortch added four catches for 104 yards and three touchdowns.

Knight started the season strong, completing 8 of 10 passes for 163 yards and two touchdowns in the season opener and adding 72 yards on the ground in Lipscomb's 33-7 win over East Central.

Now, all eyes are on Knight's commitment, with many programs trying to poach the five-star from Notre Dame.

Belleville QB Bryce Underwood

Belleville quarterback Bryce Underwood, regarded as the No. 1 QB in the class of 2025, shone under the spotlight in last weekend’s 44-6 blowout win over Stevenson.

Underwood was instrumental in the win, throwing five touchdown passes and further solidifying his status as the top quarterback in the 2025 class.

After showing off his leg power in last week's season opener, the LSU-bound product continued his impressive junior season with some impressive aerial performances in Week 2.

Underwood had a strong season with the Belleville Tigers in 2023, completing 66.7% of his passes for 3,165 yards and 40 touchdowns with just two interceptions.

He'll be looking to continue that momentum next week when the Tigers take on Churchill, a team they beat 56-0 a year ago.
