Trump Reacts to Guilty Verdict Against Assassin

President Donald Trump responded to the guilty verdict delivered on Tuesday to Ryan Routh, a 59-year-old man who had tried to take his own life last September.

Routh attempted to kill Trump while the then-presidential candidate was enjoying a round of golf at Trump International Golf Course in West Palm Beach on September 15, 2024.

“Congratulations to Attorney General Pam Bondi, Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche, and the entire DOJ team on the conviction, in Florida, of the person who attempted an assassination on my life. The trial was meticulously handled, and I would like to thank the Judge and Jury for their time, professionalism, and patience. This was an evil man with an evil intention, and they caught him. I would also like to thank the Secret Service, Department of Florida Law Enforcement, and the wonderful person who spotted him running from the site of the crime, and acted by following him, and getting all information on car type and license plate to the Sheriff’s Office, IMMEDIATELY, which led to his arrest and conviction. What incredible instinct and foresight this person had — A very big moment for JUSTICE IN AMERICA!” Trump shared on Truth Social.

During an interview regarding the trial, Trump smiled, expressing that justice had been served. He acknowledged the professionalism involved and conveyed gratitude toward the judge, jury, and key legal figures like Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche and Attorney General Pam Bondi.

“NEW: Pres. Trump speaks after Ryan Routh found guilty,” he noted, stating, “I’m very appreciative of the justice that was given… Justice was served. I very much appreciate the judge & jury.”

Bondi also commented on Routh’s conviction via social media, stating that it demonstrated the Department of Justice’s commitment to addressing political violence. She referred to the assassination attempt as not just an attack on the President but also on the nation itself.

The jury made a quick decision, finding Routh guilty on multiple charges, including attempted assassination, possession of a firearm during a violent crime, and assaulting a federal officer, among others.

Interestingly, right after the verdict, Routh attempted to stab himself in the neck with a pen.
