Justin Fields just needed a break from the news.
After rumors circulated that Chicago could move on from him and he unfollowed the Bears on Instagram, Fields downplayed the tactic and said it was just him needing space from the chatter.
“Hey, brother, it’s nice to talk about this, like, ‘Why do people take social media so seriously?’ I haven’t messed with the Bears yet, I’m just trying to take a little break.” and fields said Wednesday afternoon. In a chat with brothers Amon Ra and Echnimius St. Brown of the NFL’s 33rd team. “I unfollowed the Bears and the NFL. I’m not just trying to put football on my timeline.”
We live in an era where following and unfollowing accounts is news, and Fields made headlines for unfollowing a team he was considering trading for.
The Bears have the No. 1 pick in the 2024 NFL Draft and have the option to take any of the top three quarterbacks, led by USC Heisman Trophy winner Caleb Williams.
If Chicago drafts Williams, Fields will likely be sent packing.
According to DraftKings, the Falcons are currently favored to hire Fields in 2024.
The unfollow could be seen as Fields expressing dissatisfaction with the Bears, but instead he equated it with courting a romantic partner.
“I know you pick on girls, especially you, but just because you don’t follow a girl[on Instagram]doesn’t mean you don’t pick on her,” Fields said. said.
“That’s not going to happen. That’s not what I want to see on the timeline, I’m going on vacation now, I don’t want to watch football, and what do you think? Keep Fields or keep Fields. You want it or you draft Caleb. I’m tired of hearing it. I just want it to be over.”
Perhaps by the time Fields returns from vacation, there will be some clarity on whether the Bears want to continue their partnership with Fields.
