Kamala Harris’s Economic Message Is ‘Gaslighting,”Condescending’

Gov. Chris Sununu (R-New Hampshire) said on ABC's “This Week” Sunday that Vice President Kamala Harris' messages on the economy were “condescending” and “gaslighting.”

“He proposed 60% tariffs on China, and this week he proposed tariffs as high as 50% across the board on every other country,” host Martha Raddatz said. Economists predict this will cause inflation to spike again. How do they benefit Americans? ”

“Tariffs are complicated, there's no question about that. I don't like every tariff that he proposes, but when it comes to voters, I don't care where this election goes. There are no voters who vote on tariffs. When it comes to economics, what it really means is whether you can afford to take your kids to McDonald's. When it comes to the people at the ballot box, the economy is really reflected in the cost of living issue. If he becomes president, he will have to resolve the tariff issue. Are they using it as a leverage to advance negotiations in their favor? That will have its own consequences, but the average voter doesn't pay attention to that. From your perspective, it's almost meaningless. It's the cost of living. Can you afford to buy something now that you could have bought four years ago?

He added: “The Bidennomics thing is coming back to haunt Biden and Kamala Harris in particular. When the government says you're OK, Bidennomics is working for you. It's the worst form of gaslighting. It's very condescending because not every ad or every message from a politician tells you that your actual experience is not real.”
