Karen Kingsbury Breaks New Ground with Movie ‘Someone Like You’

The first major film based on Karen Kingsbury's novel, which the author herself calls a “groundbreaking” work, will be released in theaters on April 2nd.

someone like you It tells the story of young architect Dawson Gage. He loses her best friend in a tragedy, but soon learns that she had a long-lost sister he never knew. He then sets off to find her sister and tell her about her secret family.

It will be the first film based on Kingsbury's book to have a wide extended release and will be shown in approximately 1,800 theaters. she told Christian Headlines.

The trailer has been viewed over 5 million times across multiple platforms.

“We're excited about it,” the bestselling author told Christian Headlines.

“This is a breakthrough,” she added.

The actress herself financed the project, which was produced by her new company, Karen Kingsbury Productions.

“Really, the only way to tell the stories that are in my heart and my head is to do it ourselves,” she said. “So, this is what it is.”

Starring Sarah Fisher (See you under the mistletoe, Degrassi: The Next Generation), Jake Allyn (baxters, quad), Lynn Collins (X-MEN Origins: Wolverine, John Carter), Robin Lively (Strong Father, Strong Daughter, The Karate Kid Part III) and Bert Johnson (High School Musical Series, Strong Father, Strong Daughter).

The plot is unique in that it tells the story of sisters who are twins but are “separated in a petri dish.” This story involves the adoption of an embryo.

“Neither one knows the other,” Kingsbury said.

When one of his sisters dies, Dawson accidentally learns that she has a younger sister.

“He's going to go find that person, because that's the last thing he can do for this lost friend. And he found this girl,” Kingsbury told Christian Headlines. Ta. “Dawson showed up at the zoo where she worked and said, 'I have information about your adoption and your adopted sister.' Now, this leaves a lot of hurt and pain for this little girl. Heartache opened. She travels to another state and visits her biological family

“This is a story of reconciliation and redemption,” Kingsbury added. “Forgiveness is hard, and this is a movie that shows that it's possible. And that even when you've experienced your greatest loss, if you keep your eyes up, you'll be okay.”
