The fans in the Bronx erupted for Karl Anthony Towns during the Yankees-Mets game on Sunday night.
Towns, smiling alongside his girlfriend Jordyn Woods in a suite, certainly made a statement with his unique outfit choice.
His shirt featured memorable images of Knicks fans who gained notoriety from a Sidetalk NYC video after the Knicks triumphed over the Celtics in the 2021 season opener.
As the Knicks swept to an 8-2 victory, the center received loud cheers from fans of both baseball teams.
In that viral video, after the Knicks beat the Celtics in double overtime, the fans made headlines as one placed their fingers in an “L” shape on their forehead while expressing their excitement with an exuberant “F-K Boston” outside Madison Square Garden.
Now, those once-unknown fans have become internet sensations, with Towns sporting their likeness on his shirt and showcasing a humorous nod to the Knicks’ six-game series win over the Celtics.
Previously, Yankees and Mets supporters watched as the Knicks played at Yankee Stadium and Citi Field, but both groups came together to celebrate the basketball team’s recent win.
Towns, who averaged 19.8 points and 12.7 rebounds during that series against the Celtics, has led the Knicks to their first meeting finals since 2000. They’ll face the Pacers again at Madison Square Garden this Wednesday.
The winner will advance to compete against either the Thunder or the Timberwolves in the 2025 NBA Finals.
