Karoline Leavitt Criticizes Zohran Mamdani For Unfoundedly Accusing Trump Of Causing Bomb Threats At Voting Locations

White House Response to Mamdani’s Accusation

On Tuesday, White House press secretary Caroline Levitt criticized Democratic New York mayoral candidate Zoran Mamdani for making unfounded claims about President Donald Trump relating to a bomb threat in New Jersey. She labeled his accusations as “totally irresponsible.”

Mamdani stated, without presenting any evidence, that the bomb threat was part of Trump’s strategy to “intimidate voters” and “suppress the voices of the American people.” Levitt responded, suggesting that Mamdani’s remarks illustrate the Democrats’ singular focus on retaliating against Trump.

“I think they are completely irresponsible,” Levitt remarked, adding, “And they’re not based on any evidence.” She expressed concern, stating that this situation reflects poorly on the Democratic Party, saying it seems to have devolved into a party whose only opponent is Trump. It’s kind of disappointing to witness someone at the forefront of an election suggesting such things about the president when, really, there isn’t any basis for those threats.

This Tuesday, polling locations in various New Jersey counties had to be moved due to the threats, although investigations determined they were not credible.

The state is currently in the midst of a tight gubernatorial race between Democrat Mikie Sherrill and Republican Jack Ciatarelli. Sherrill held a slight lead of about 3.3 points on election day, according to polling data.

As of recent reports, Mamdani was leading in his race by a significant 14 points. He is identifying as a democratic socialist and is up against independent candidate Andrew Cuomo, who has garnered support from several prominent figures, including Trump, tech CEO Elon Musk, and White House chief of staff Stephen Miller.

In an interview with CBS News, Trump mentioned that it would be “difficult” to allocate substantial funds to New York, which prompted Mamdani to respond defiantly, warning Trump that he would “defy” him.
