Kensington Palace announced Wednesday that Kate, Duchess of Cambridge, has been admitted to hospital for a scheduled surgery.

“His Royal Highness the Prince of Wales was admitted to a London clinic yesterday for a planned abdominal operation. The operation was successful and he will remain in hospital for 10 to 14 days before returning home to continue his recovery.” did. the palace said in a statement.

Officials at the palace said that on the recommendation of doctors, official duties will not resume until Easter.

Kensington Palace said: “The Princess of Wales appreciates the interest this statement has generated. She has expressed her desire to maintain as normal a life as possible for her children and to keep private medical information private. I hope that the people will understand her wish to do so.”

“The Princess of Wales would like to apologize to everyone involved for the fact that she has had to postpone upcoming engagements. She looks forward to bringing back as many people as possible as soon as possible.” .”

This is not the first time Middleton has faced health issues in public. She was diagnosed with hyperemesis gravidarum (HG), which causes severe nausea, vomiting, weight loss, and dehydration during her three pregnancies. She is also said to have severe morning sickness.

The princess celebrated her 42nd birthday on January 9th. She received a heartfelt birthday message from the King and Queen Camilla on social media. The British royal family's official Instagram and X accounts posted photos of the Princess of Wales at her coronation in May.

The photo, taken by Getty Images' Chris Jackson, showed the mother-of-three backstage with the king and queen.

“Happy Birthday to the Princess of Wales today!” the caption read.

This was not the first time a king and queen paid tribute to a princess on her birthday. Last year, they shared yet another heartfelt photo of the royal family visiting Wales with Prince William, 41, after being appointed Prince and Princess of Wales in 2022.

After the death of Elizabeth II, the couple received new titles. Britain's longest-reigning monarch died in September 2022 at the age of 96.

According to reports, the princess spent the day in private. Bells were rung in her honor at London's Westminster Abbey, where the Prince of Wales and the Princess of Wales were married in 2011.

The Prince and Princess of Wales met at the University of St. Andrews in Scotland. The two dated for nearly 10 years and briefly broke up before getting engaged in 2010. They are the parents of Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis.

Prince William, 41, is the eldest son of the King and the late Princess Diana, and heir to the British throne.
