Sen. Katie Britt, Republican of Alabama, delivered the Republican response to President Joe Biden’s State of the Union address Thursday.
In his remarks, Biden asserted that the state of labor unions is “strong and getting stronger.”
But Britt said, “Families will be worse off, our communities will be less safe, and our country will be less safe under his administration.”
“While President Biden proudly proclaims that Bidennomics is working, the American people are scraping by,” she said. “Bless his heart, we know better.”
Britt, who took office last year, slammed the president’s border policies.
“President Biden’s border policies are disgraceful. This crisis is despicable. And the truth is, this is almost completely preventable,” she said after telling the horrifying story of a woman she met. .
“She had been sex trafficked by the cartel since she was 12 years old. She said not only was she raped every day, but she was raped multiple times a day. The cartel put her on a mattress in a shoebox. “He broke into a room and forced people to go through that door over and over and over again for hours on end. Even though something like this would happen in a third world country. We can’t tolerate it. This is the United States of America, and it’s in the past. It’s my opinion that we’re starting to act that way,” Britt declared.
“From fentanyl poisoning to horrific murders, President Biden’s ill-advised border policies have left an empty chair just like this one at the kitchen table tonight.”
“At this point, our commander in chief is not in command,” the senator declared, describing Biden as a “wavering and diminished leader.”
