Spencer Pratt Leads in Los Angeles Mayoral Race as Polls Tighten
Spencer Pratt, a candidate for mayor of Los Angeles, currently holds an edge over incumbent Karen Bass and fellow candidate Raman. Katie Zacharias highlights Pratt’s bipartisan approach, particularly his focus on practical solutions for homelessness and crime. In a related development, California gubernatorial candidates, including Tom Steyer, are engaging in intense debates over policies that affect transgender athletes in women’s sports, a significant concern for the voting public.
As support for Pratt grows among celebrities, reality TV personality Kato Kaelin, known for his role in the O.J. Simpson trial, has publicly endorsed him. Kaelin criticized Karen Bass for her performance as mayor, especially during the challenging times of the 2025 fires, stating that Bass has “done a terrible job.” He expressed his belief that the city needs a shift in leadership and sees Pratt as a potential catalyst for change.
Kaelin, who claimed he was “shocked” by potential votes for Bass, argued that her policies do not serve the residents of Los Angeles, particularly in areas of homelessness and substance abuse. He believes Pratt offers a fresh perspective and renewed energy that the city desperately needs.
Having gained fame during the 1995 O.J. Simpson murder trial, Kaelin has transformed from an aspiring actor to a recognizable figure in pop culture, largely due to his unique courtroom testimony.
As the race intensifies, Bass has even compared Pratt to Donald Trump, highlighting the stakes involved. More than a dozen celebrities have rallied behind Pratt, arguing that his status as a political outsider could be a valuable asset for Los Angeles. Yet, there are those who contend that political experience is essential for leading such a large city.
Another supporter mentioned empathizing with Pratt, pointing out that he often faces criticism for being a reality star, just as they have faced backlash as a witness in high-profile situations. “Vote for Pratt!” they urged.
Pratt, officially a registered Republican but running as an independent, is set to compete against Mayor Bass and progressive City Council member Nithya Rahman in the upcoming primary. The top candidates from this election will progress to the November vote, unless one candidate secures over 50% of the vote and is directly declared the winner.
