Kellyanne Conway Addresses ‘Free Market Friends’ Concerned About Trump Tariffs

Conway Warns Business Leaders About Trump’s Tariff Policy

Kellyanne Conway expressed concerns on Tuesday regarding the business elite and free market conservatives who supported Trump, emphasizing that his tariff strategy could challenge the economy.

Treasury Secretary Scott Bescent noted on Sunday that the U.S. made significant progress in discussions with China, marking the first debate since Trump imposed mutual tariffs on several countries in April. During an appearance on “Kudlow,” Conway criticized those who reacted negatively to Trump’s trade war and the resulting market fluctuations.

“Some delegations left Saudi Arabia for Turkey to promote peace between Ukraine and Russia. He’s juggling many issues at once. And Larry wasn’t the only Democrat who cautioned Trump while predicting adverse outcomes,” Conway remarked to Larry Kudlow. “A lot of these critics were actually free market supporters. Many voted for Trump and contributed substantial amounts to his inauguration.”

Trump’s upcoming week in the Middle East is focused on establishing economic and business agreements to strengthen ties with key Gulf allies as he embarks on his second term. His itinerary includes visits to Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, and Qatar, where significant investments and partnerships are anticipated.

Conway asserted that Trump is delivering when it matters, contrasting the skepticism from elite figures with the confidence shown by working-class Americans.

“What he said was, ‘Be patient. There might be some short-term discomfort for long-term gains.’ You trusted President Trump to rebuild our economy. And let’s be honest, it takes time; years of globalization have led us into this situation,” she explained.

Her comments align with Trump’s intensified focus on his second term’s economic goals, utilizing tariffs to promote manufacturing domestically and reshape global trade dynamics.

“Here’s my message amid all the anxiety. The sky isn’t falling, despite what some pessimists say. Many people point out the inflation we’ve faced during the Biden-Harris administration. We saw significant increases in gas and grocery prices, which have become early signs of economic failure. Look at the handling of fossil fuels and border management under this administration,” Conway commented.

She further accused Democrats of continuing to criticize Trump on immigration issues, despite a notable decrease in illegal border crossings under his policies.

“Why are Democrats like Larry attacking Trump regarding border issues? He signed bills promoting border security, yet they insist on protests at Newark Airport, while our Transport Secretary Sean Duffy is making plans that focus on future reliability,” Conway added.

Newark Liberty International Airport faced another radar and communication failure early Friday, raising new safety concerns about aviation. Duffy has initiated plans to modernize the nation’s air traffic control systems to reduce delays and enhance flight safety.
