Minnesota Governor Decides Against Re-Election Amid Fraud Investigations
Minnesota Governor Tim Walz announced on Monday that he will not run for re-election. In response, former House Speaker Kevin McCarthy emphasized that the state’s investigation into alleged fraud is still ongoing.
“This isn’t the end of the story. Walz is stepping down because he didn’t win,” he stated during an appearance on “America’s Newsroom.” He suggested that the entire Democratic administration might need to resign as the inquiry continues, commending independent journalist Nick Shirley for exposing irregularities at childcare centers that receive government funding but seem inactive.
McCarthy hinted that childcare could be the next focus of scrutiny in Minnesota, alleging that Democratic officials might be misusing funds to support their campaigns.

Walz’s resignation announcement follows the escalating scandal, which has captured national attention. He remarked that he is proud of his administration’s efforts but feels it’s time to refocus on governance rather than campaigning.
In a detailed statement, Walz accused former President Trump and his supporters of trying to tarnish Minnesota’s reputation, alleging they are jeopardizing funds intended to assist families. He noted that organized crime has been exploiting the system, and while some progress has been made against fraud, political groups seem to be taking advantage of the ongoing challenges.
Walz concluded, “We need to ensure we can regain the public’s trust to effectively deliver our programs and services,” outlining the measures the state is implementing to combat fraud.
