Khamenei Vows ‘Hard Slap’ to U.S. If It Dares Challenge Iran

Iran's top leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei warned on Friday that challenge Tehran should dare prepare for a “hard slap” after President Donald Trump warned about possible military action against the Islamic Republic.

“Americans should know that when threats stand up to Iran, they can't get anywhere,” Khamenei said in a live television speech mark for Novrus, the New Year in Persia.

AFP Report He said that Americans “something bad intentions to the Iranian country would make them difficult slap.”

The warning reflects the threats that have been put into place almost monthly to both Washington's interests and Israel, as well as years of Iran's opposition to everything the US is involved in.

Earlier in March, Trump wrote to Khamenei, urging him to negotiate with Tehran on the nuclear program and warning of potential military action if he refused.

Foreign Minister Abbas Araguchi on Thursday said the letter was “more threatening” but it appears to offer an opportunity.

Araghchi added that Tehran is weighing the response.

Khamenei has previously rejected the overture to Trump's talks and accused the US president of trying to deceive him by portraying him as willing to negotiate the US and not wanting to involve Iran.

Trump, which began his second term in January, revived his “maximum pressure” policy on Tehran.
