Kim Kardashian Critiques Trump Administration’s Immigration Policies
On Thursday, Kim Kardashian expressed her disappointment with the ongoing actions by the Trump administration’s Immigration Customs Enforcement (ICE) that affect those “who worked so hard to build our country.” She made these remarks during the DoVF Awards in Venice, Italy, where she received the Leadership Award for her efforts with the Anti-Recidivist Union.
When asked about the situation, Kardashian remarked, “The media often frames it as if these actions target criminals to protect our country. However, numerous hardworking individuals are being impacted. People I consider friends and those close to me are directly affected.” She believes many in her community embody the spirit of hard work and contribution.
“I want to feel optimistic about protection measures, but the reality doesn’t reflect that,” she continued, noting the issues at hand feel overwhelming. “We must find ways to genuinely support our nation while safeguarding the people who contribute so much.”
A spokesperson for Kardashian has been sought for additional commentary. In June, she voiced similar opinions on her social media after a significant ICE operation in Los Angeles, labeling the raids as “inhuman.”
“Having grown up in LA, I’ve witnessed how deeply immigration is interwoven in our community. They are our friends, colleagues, and family members,” she stated. “Regardless of political differences, it’s evident our community’s vitality hinges on immigrant contributions.” She called for a more humane approach to these policies, stressing that “there has to be a better way.”
In response to Kardashian’s criticism, Homeland Security Director Tricia McLaughlin defended the administration by sharing criminal records of several undocumented immigrants apprehended in the raids. She questioned Kardashian’s stance in a post, pointing out the criminal backgrounds of those arrested.
While Kardashian has criticized the immigration policies, she acknowledged that she appreciates some of Trump’s efforts regarding police reform and criminal justice. She has actively advocated for the rights of individuals like Eric and Lyle Menendez during her engagements with the White House.
Despite her criticisms, she noted, “I love President Donald Trump,” when discussing issues related to reforms. “I’m navigating through different administrations and persistently advocating for those I believe deserve attention and justice.”
