Charlie Kirk Critiques Democrat Gen Z Summit

Charlie Kirk, the founder of Turning Point USA, openly criticized the Democrat Gen Z Summit during a recent appearance on “Fox & Friends Weekend.” He raised concerns about the perceived absence of patriotism at the event, questioning the lack of American symbols being showcased.

“If you look at the footage from the Democratic events, where’s the patriotism?” Kirk remarked. “Where’s the American flag? Where’s the sense of Americana?”

Kirk also expressed support for JD Vance, suggesting he could serve as a guiding figure for young conservatives. However, he emphasized that Vance needs to follow through on his commitments.

The show’s co-host, Charlie Hurt, seemed to downplay Kirk’s credibility in comparison to the Democratic initiative aimed at high school and college students. Kirk then referenced a recent Pew Research Center study, which indicated that 52% of men aged 18 to 29 lean towards Republican views, as opposed to 34% who align with Democrats.

When co-host Rachel Campos Duffy probed about the significance of these statistics, Kirk argued it indicates a reaction against cultural shifts in recent years. “What we’re seeing is a backlash, a rebellion against everything that’s happened culturally over the last five years,” he stated.

Kirk mentioned how the pandemic forced many to reevaluate their lives, suggesting that the lockdowns compelled a search for stronger, more decisive voices in media, referencing podcasters like Joe Rogan and Theo Von as examples. “There’s nothing more masculine than having to engage with the world instead of staying stuck at home staring at a screen,” he added.

In a lighter moment, Kirk found humor in the fact that former DNC vice-chairman David Hogg spoke at the summit, calling Hogg a “symbol of American masculinity.”

Later that day, Democratic strategist Julian Epstein commented on the summit, warning that it highlighted numerous challenges faced by the party, articulating that “voters don’t respond well to the Democrats’ messaging. It’s an ongoing issue, a continuous barrier.”
