Allegations Against Russian Colonel in Fraud Scheme

Reports have surfaced claiming that one of Russia’s celebrated military heroes is embroiled in a daring fraud scheme. Colonel Constantine Frolov, known for his sniper abilities and referred to as the “executor,” allegedly fabricated stories of his combat heroism. It’s claimed he, along with others, orchestrated a scheme that siphoned nearly $2.5 million from military funds by faking injuries in combat.

According to local news sources, the former brigade commander, Artem Gorodilov, is also implicated in this affair. Members of the esteemed 83rd independent security guard Air Assault Brigade—at least 35 of whom are officers—reportedly faked their combat injuries to collect payments averaging around $40,000 each.

Frolov, who is 39, was well-respected throughout the ongoing conflict in Ukraine, known for reportedly surviving five minor injuries and two serious ones. It’s said that his supposed bravery led to him receiving four “Commanders of Courage” honors. However, investigators now contend that these injuries were staged. In what might be a shocking twist, Frolov reportedly admitted to issuing orders for his troops to shoot him to claim these benefits.

This scandal first came to light last summer when whistleblowers raised concerns. Frolov was arrested in June 2024, with Gorodilov apprehended a month later. Both are facing serious fraud charges.

Furthermore, authorities found Frolov in possession of multiple firearms and ammunition, as well as being linked to bribery accusations involving these weapons and even potential human trafficking violations.

As the investigation continues, it raises unsettling questions about integrity within the military ranks and the lengths some might go to exploit systems meant to benefit genuine veterans and heroes.
