Kremlin and Iran bots are trying to undermine MAGA, according to a report

A recent report indicates that Russia and Iran are actively seeking to undermine the United States from the inside, specifically “targeting great American moves.”

These countries are reportedly employing tens of thousands of social media bots to elevate misleading opinions and voices. This tactic aims to shake the loyalty of specific groups and foment confusion about the national leadership.

Essentially, a bot is a software tool that mimics human behavior on social media platforms.

These bots are being utilized to amplify real influencers who share stories about “false flags,” attempting to tarnish the reputation of former President Donald Trump and his conservative supporters. The findings stem from a report by a politically neutral nonprofit, the Network Contagion Research Institute, which studies online extremism.

A surprising revelation in the report indicated that a majority of Republicans currently support military action against Iran, but there’s a significant disconnect on social media, where a sense of civil unrest seems amplified.

An NCRI analyst stated that this manipulation mirrors a psychological operation aimed at disrupting confidence in institutions meant to safeguard the public.

These bots create an illusion of greater support for extremist views than actually exists.

They often use ordinary names and profiles designed to appear typical of everyday Americans.

The report highlighted recent violent incidents, such as the killing of two Israeli embassy staffers in Washington, D.C. This event sparked what the institute termed a “fake flag reflex” online, where narratives were quickly reshaped to fit an alternative agenda.

Following such events, both Kremlin-backed and Iranian-affiliated media sources rapidly introduced stories through various influencers tied to the MAGA movement, distorting public perception.

One example discussed was Draven Noctis, a U.S. veteran active in Russian state media who claims that life in the U.S. operates under a system of “slavery,” where economic hardship is pervasive even for refugees.

He previously urged Ukrainian soldiers to defect to Russia, echoing propaganda in the Cyrillic alphabet.

The NCRI pointed out that narratives surrounding the Israeli embassy staff killings reportedly undermined the official accounts, pushing a conspiratorial view instead.

The report ties together the actions of Noctis with the surge of false narratives on platforms like X, which often see significant engagement spikes following crisis events.

One such account, “Red Pill Media,” which claims a U.S. base, was found to be linked to Karachi, Pakistan, highlighting the global nature of this disinformation campaign.

This pattern of behavior fits within a broader Russian strategy, presenting ready-made excuses and complicating diplomatic relations.

In particular, reports suggest that various social media outlets are coordinating attacks against political figures like Trump, using a blend of both automated and human-generated voices.

It’s a rather complex situation—it seems they are not only exploiting current crises but also pivoting narratives quite skillfully to further their objectives.

The report characterized these actions as an ongoing campaign to undermine trusted institutions while simultaneously promoting discord within American society.
