During CBS's “Face the Nation” broadcast on Sunday, Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem said he will continue to use polygraph tests to track the so-called “leakers” who are revealing immigration and customs enforcement (ICE) deportation efforts.
Partial transcripts as follows:
Margaret Brennan: I'd like to ask you. You said you found leaks within DHS and you said you were going to indict them.
Back on February 9th, he tweeted, “The FBI is very corrupt. We will work with all agencies to stop the leak.”
If the leak is from within the DHS, were you wrong to blame the FBI?
Noem: No, I think there are people out there that are leaking out of this whole government. I think everyone needs it…
Brennan: What did they leak?
NOEM: These were leaking enforcement activities that we were planning, implementing in several cities, which were about to be vulnerable to places where we were at risk, exposing law enforcement to vulnerability.
Therefore, they could face up to 10 years in federal prison, as they were charged and they did it. Anyone who is leaking information outside should take responsibility for how something is planned for the safety of those law enforcement officers.
Brennan: And you're going to continue with these polygraphies…
Noem: Absolutely.
Brennan: …Employees?
Noem: The authorities I have under the Department of Homeland Security are broad and wide. And I plan to use all of them to make sure we are following the law, following the procedures to keep people safe, and that President Trump has made a promise.
