Los Angeles Man Found Incompetent to Stand Trial for Double Murder

A man in Los Angeles, accused of murdering music executive Robin Kaye and her husband Thomas DeLuca, has reportedly been declared incompetent to stand trial. This determination comes after a violent incident in a luxurious mansion.

Raymond Boudalian, 22, will be transferred to a state hospital in California for treatment. Los Angeles County Superior Court Judge Maria Cavalluzzi made this ruling, which involves the administration of psychotropic medication to help restore his competency, as noted by a report.

“The court finds that the defendant is not competent to stand trial at this time,” Judge Cavalluzzi remarked about Boudalian, who has a history of drug use, mental health issues, and several past arrests. He faces two murder charges stemming from the shooting deaths of Kaye and DeLuca, both aged 70.

The judge indicated that it was medically necessary to treat Boudalian, stating that the medication was probably necessary and beneficial. She also ordered the state to administer the drug involuntarily, emphasizing concerns for his physical and mental well-being without it.

While specific details regarding his psychiatric condition were not shared, the judge noted that Boudalian is unable to make informed decisions about the medication he needs.

In her comments, Cavalluzzi highlighted the serious nature of this case, saying, “This is a murder case, so the restoration is in the interest of justice.”

Authorities allege that Boudalian broke into the couple’s $4.5 million home in Encino, targeting Kaye, a well-known music supervisor, as they returned from grocery shopping on July 10. Reports indicate both victims were fatally shot, but their bodies weren’t discovered until several days later during a welfare check.

A neighbor had noticed someone jumping over the couple’s fence around 4 PM on the day of the crime and alerted the police. However, when officers arrived, they found nothing out of the ordinary, despite conducting aerial surveillance and inspecting the property.

The couple’s bodies were discovered four days later, leading to Boudalian’s arrest the following day. Fingerprints from a previous arrest linked him to this tragic double homicide.

Boudalian has been arrested multiple times for various offenses, including assault and threats with a weapon, just in late 2023 and early 2024. He has often been released the same day after some of these arrests.

Currently, he remains in custody without bail as he undergoes a psychiatric evaluation. His next court appearance is set for December 19.
