LA Knight faces a critical moment at Money in the Bank against Roman Reigns, with the world title at stake.

LA Knight’s Journey to the World Heavyweight Championship

The Money in the Bank premium live event is a major moment for superstars looking to earn a shot at a world championship—quite possibly winning it the same night. It’s all about luck for the six men and six women involved; all they need to do is climb a ladder, grab a briefcase, and secure a contract for a title match at their choosing. But for many, including LA Knight, the odds have felt stacked for far too long, making the path to glory seem more like an elusive dream.

Come Saturday night, LA Knight won’t require a ladder—or even a mountain to scale. His task is straightforward, yet incredibly daunting: dethroning Roman Reigns, the reigning World Heavyweight Champion. Reigns has held the title since besting CM Punk at WrestleMania 42. Since then, he’s claimed he won’t be taking a break, fending off challengers one after another.

For Knight, it feels like a make-or-break moment.

His rise in popularity was evident in 2023, with the summer boosting him to the ranks of top babyfaces. Despite challenging Reigns, victory has always eluded him. Knight believes that The Bloodline, an ever-present faction loyal to Reigns, has cheated him out of opportunities. At Crown Jewel in 2023, Jimmy Uso was the one who cost Knight the title. Then, at Royal Rumble 2024, Reigns retained his Undisputed WWE Championship by pinning AJ Styles, further solidifying his dominance.

After shifting gears, Knight defeated Logan Paul at SummerSlam 2024 but lost the title to Shinsuke Nakamura at Survivor Series: War Games just over three months later. The shadow of The Bloodline never really faded, though, even with Solo Sikoa temporarily taking on a leadership role.

Knight had to fight tooth and nail, even teaming up with members of The Bloodline before finally facing Reigns again. During a declaration in Paris this summer, Knight embraced the label of “unchosen,” showing he’s ready to reclaim his path to the World Heavyweight title.

“I may be unchosen, but every single one of you chose me,” he stated. “And more importantly than any of that, I chose myself… I can’t quit. I don’t know how to stop, and I can’t stop being L.A. Knight.”

Teaming with Sikoa and Royce Keys, Knight took down Jimmy and Jey Uso, waiting for the chance to face Reigns, who retained his title against Penta in Mexico City last month.

Now, as the moment approaches, there’s a palpable sense of anticipation. Knight is among the most popular wrestlers on the roster, buoyed by a supportive crowd. But he’s just waiting for that decisive moment.

In his own words during an appearance on TMZ, Knight posed an interesting question, “How has LA Knight not been world champion yet?” He added, “It’s put up or shut up, do or die. If this doesn’t happen here, where do I go from here?”

This question looms over him should he fail. New contenders will emerge from the men’s Money in the Bank ladder match. The Raw roster is packed with talent ready to challenge for the title, including Keys, Oba Femi, and Bronson Reed.

Saturday night stands as a critical juncture for Knight. His fans are eager to see if he can finally seize the moment. Among those rooting for him is WWE Hall of Famer Diamond Dallas Page, who expressed hope that Knight will find success.

Page shared his belief with OutKick Dropkick, saying, “I would love to see that… Do I believe it’s going to happen? I’m going to say yes because I want it to be out in the universe for LA.”

We’ll have to wait and see how everything unfolds, especially given the current state of chaos surrounding the event.

The LA Knight Curveball

In recent weeks, Knight has commendably noted that Reigns has defended his title without The Bloodline’s assistance. With tensions flaring and The Usos preoccupied, things have spiraled into disorder.

Amid this turmoil, unexpected alliances could form. Knight might just find backing from the newly emerging faction called the 946, which could shift the dynamics significantly in Knight’s favor, potentially setting the stage for a larger conflict heading into Survivor Series: War Games.

On the flip side, Sikoa could betray Knight, contradicting their apparent friendship despite their camaraderie over the past few months. If Knight loses this Saturday, we might be looking at his storyline taking a much darker twist.

Regardless of what happens, Money in the Bank promises to be a wild and unpredictable affair.
