Political Figures Celebrate American Workers on Labor Day

This Labor Day, political leaders paid tribute to American workers, recognizing their essential role in keeping the nation moving. This connection to the working class has historically resonated, contributing to the successes of President Donald Trump in previous elections by focusing on those who feel overlooked.

In an official statement, the Trump White House expressed, “This Labor Day, we honor the grit, skill, and spirit of the American worker, the backbone of our nation and the force behind our prosperity. American workers deserve a government that fights for them – the Trump Admin is delivering. To workers across America, thank you.”

Senator Rand Paul (R-KY) honored the spirit of Labor Day, saying, “Labor Day started as a tribute to the workers who built this country with their own hands, and that spirit is what keeps America running. Every plumber, farmer, nurse, trucker, and small business owner deserves a government that lowers taxes, protects freedom, and ensures liberty. That’s something I fight for every single day.”

Vice President JD Vance emphasized that “the Trump Administration is investing in American workers,” concluding with a cheerful, “Happy Labor Day!”

House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) highlighted the progress American workers have made, stating they are “WINNING again.” He pointed out significant developments under Trump’s leadership, including the absence of taxes on tips and overtime pay, larger paychecks, vast investments in the U.S., and a resurgence in American manufacturing.

Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent mentioned that this Labor Day is about celebrating the American worker and their families. He noted that real wages are surpassing inflation and that lower-income workers have seen faster wage growth compared to higher earners. Additionally, he pointed to the creation of over 900,000 private-sector jobs and significant tax relief for working families, which he claimed are under threat by radical left proposals to repeal these tax cuts. “America’s workers deserve to keep more of what they earn, not pay more in taxes,” he added.

Interior Secretary Doug Burgum remarked on the administration’s initiatives to revitalize American industry: “This administration is supporting and prioritizing American workers. Under @POTUS, we are onshoring production, bringing high-paying jobs back home, and reviving our manufacturing industry—and this is just the beginning. Thank you for all of your work!”

Senator Marsha Blackburn (R-TN) also joined in celebrating: “Today, we honor the men and women who built this country and keep it running. Thanks to President @realDonaldTrump, we’re putting American workers first again.”
