Lakewood Church Shooter Stopped by Good Guy with Gun

A gunman at Houston’s Lakewood Church was reportedly stopped by Harris County Sheriff’s deputy security personnel at the church Sunday morning.

Updated: Around 4:00 p.m. Central Time ABC News report Harris County Sheriff Ed Gonzalez said in a statement that he had “corrected his previous statement that it was a sheriff’s deputy who fired the shots.” Gonzalez now says the gunman was stopped by “other agencies firing shots.”

Click2Houston report The suspect allegedly opened fire in the lobby of the church. The newspaper noted that witnesses suggested that “the shooter was probably a woman.”

gonzalez explained Some of his deputies work at the church on Sundays as “temporary work,” which explains why the deputies were present to stop the incident.
