Large-scale Migration Poses Risks to the Existence of European Populations

Rubio Warns of Globalism’s Threats at Munich Security Conference

During the Munich Security Conference in Germany, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio voiced concerns about the “illusion” of globalism and the implications of mass immigration for Europe’s future.

Representing the Trump administration at the prestigious event held at the Hotel Bayerischer Hof, Rubio stressed the importance of a strong alliance between the US and Europe. However, he cautioned against the misguided priorities that emerged post-Cold War, including a commitment to free trade, green policies, and open borders.

Rubio criticized these liberal approaches, linked to Francis Fukuyama’s notion of the “end of history,” labeling them “stupid” and misaligned with human nature. He noted that Western nations have shed millions of middle and working-class jobs to competitors, particularly Communist China.

Additionally, Rubio pointed out that in trying to “appease the climate cult,” Western countries have inadvertently harmed themselves. He argued that rival nations have leveraged energy resources not just to bolster their economies but also as tactics against Western interests.

He emphasized, “In our pursuit of a world without borders, we have opened the floodgates to an unparalleled surge of mass migration that endangers social cohesion, cultural continuity, and our people’s future.”

Rubio dismissed the notion that mass immigration is a minor issue, asserting instead that it is a “crisis” reshaping and destabilizing societies across the West.

“Controlling who enters our country isn’t xenophobic; it’s a fundamental act of national sovereignty. Neglecting this responsibility threatens the very fabric of our society and our civilization’s survival,” he added.

In a more conciliatory note, Rubio expressed hope that the Trump administration’s vision for renewal could ultimately be realized in collaboration with allies in Europe. “For America and Europe, our destinies are intertwined,” he said.

Rubio reflected on America’s origins, noting that its foundations were laid long before its formal establishment, highlighting the connection between its settlers’ heritage and the shared Christian faith that binds both old and new worlds.

He spoke on the shared heritage that constitutes Western Civilization, emphasizing common history, faith, culture, and sacrifices made for this collective legacy.

Rubio acknowledged that while disagreements may exist between the US and its European counterparts, they arise from profound worries regarding Europe’s future. He reiterated that a strong Europe is essential, as both continents’ fates remain interconnected.

“This is why our allies can’t merely accept the deteriorating status quo. We’re focused on restoring old friendships and reviving the greatest civilization in history,” he concluded.
