Knicks’ Dramatic Comeback Captivates Fans

On Wednesday night, Larry David’s excitement was noticeably dampened as the Knicks found themselves trailing 71-42 in Game 4 against the Spurs. However, what followed was nothing short of historic.

Seated next to David on Celebrity Row at Madison Square Garden, fellow Knicks enthusiast John McEnroe shared with the ESPN crew during Thursday’s NBA Today that David was ready to leave when it looked like all hope was lost for the Knicks.

“71 to 42, that wasn’t exactly optimistic,” McEnroe remarked. “He was like, ‘Let’s get out of here.’ I told him, ‘Larry, come on, it hasn’t exactly gone our way over the years, right?’ I mean, I’ve blown some leads myself… It felt like we were heading for another loss.”

Despite the grim atmosphere, McEnroe encouraged David to remain optimistic about the Knicks’ chances. “I said, ‘Larry, let’s think positively! If they can cut it down to 29, and then 25, or maybe 21, then possibly even to 18,’” he continued. “This was the most positive I’ve felt about a game, and I’ve attended countless sporting events since my first Knicks game at age eight.”

The unexpected turnaround led to a thrilling 107-106 victory for the Knicks, placing them just one win away from their first NBA championship since 1973, sending fans into a frenzy.

McEnroe expressed that the energy from the Madison Square Garden crowd was something unmatched, saying, “I’ve never experienced anything like it. Even during major tennis events there, it pales in comparison. An hour later, nobody had left.”

This interview wasn’t the first time David made headlines recently. A viral video surfaced showing him nearly collapsing after Josh Hart missed a crucial layup late in the game that could’ve clinched the lead for the Knicks.
