Last, tragic words of NYC deli worker as he died in his brother's embrace

A deli worker in New York City was tragically shot outside his family’s shop following a confrontation with a known blackmailer. Before he passed away, he reportedly pleaded with his brother to look after their children.

28-year-old Abdul Saleh, a father of two, shared these devastating final words shortly after being shot outside Sal’s Deli and Grocery in the East Village late on Saturday, according to his grieving relatives.

His cousin, Bassam Hussein, recounted that in his last moments, Saleh told him, “Just take care of the children.”

Saleh had just returned from Yemen, where he visited his wife and children, including a son he met for the first time. Sadly, just 24 hours after arriving back in the U.S., he was shot.

The incident occurred around 11:30 p.m. as Saleh was working at the family business. The suspected gunman, Kaborn Horton, 28, who had a history of theft and harassment, entered the store and an altercation led to gunfire spilling onto the street.

Saleh was struck in the torso and later died at Bellevue Hospital. Interestingly, the alleged shooter also sustained injuries from a ricocheted bullet, according to police.

This tragic event took place despite multiple reports filed with law enforcement by deli employees regarding the suspect’s intimidating behavior.

Hussein remarked on Horton’s aggressive tendencies, explaining that the man often attempted to take items without paying and would instigate conflicts.

Horton now faces serious charges, including murder, manslaughter, and illegal possession of a weapon.
