In almost every Hollywood blockbuster released these days, men are portrayed as incompetent and lazy.
Meanwhile, actresses like Brie Larson have been chosen to outshine previously legendary characters like Indiana Jones, Iron Man, and the Hulk.
“Hollywood really seems to hate men,” says Lauren Chen. She admits that she is “not a fan of the overt feminist propaganda that is part of almost every TV show and movie these days.”
Chen believes there’s nothing wrong with female empowerment and being pro-female, but there’s something wrong with the way Hollywood operates.
“It’s not just pro-women, it’s actively anti-men, and the two are completely different things,” she explained, adding, “You don’t have to destroy the other to lift up one gender. ” he added.
The most notable way Hollywood is tearing men apart is by introducing weak, sidelined male characters in many of its reboots of popular series.
“Indiana Jones and the Dial” is one of the most recent examples of this.Historically, Indiana Jones has been portrayed as a strong, moral, and intelligent character.
“Fast forward to ‘Dial of Destiny,’ and instead we see the once-great Dr. Jones easily overshadowed by his goddaughter,” Chen explains, becoming weaker. Jones points out that he’s not the only male character.
Obi-Wan Kenobi from the Star Wars series was a hero who currently has his own series on Disney+. However, his character in the new series couldn’t be further from who he used to be.
And a lot of it has to do with who’s in charge.
“We have reached a point where discrimination against men is so common in society that we accept that studios don’t even hide the fact that they were specifically looking for women to be in charge of certain films,” Chen said. says.
